SJREIA CODE OF ETHICS
- The South Jersey Real Estate Investors Association, hereinafter "SJREIA", Board of Directors will make and enforce the following Code of Ethics for SJREIA members and subgroups as a condition of membership. The SJREIA Board shall have the authority to deny, revoke or suspend membership of any member or subgroup:
A. Who fails to adopt and accept the SJREIA code of ethics for its members; or
B. Who has engaged in practices concerning his/her membership or promoted policies toward the general public which reflect poorly or tend to discredit or bring into disrepute the business of real estate investment or of real estate investment associations. Activities include but are not limited to:
1. Artificially inflating the value of any property above reasonable fair market trading value;
2. Failing to disclose to any buyer conditions that would knowingly reduce the value of a property;
3. Taking advantage of new investor’s trust of seasoned investors (i.e. by over valuating estimates, etc.);
4. Factually deceiving any SJREIA member, any other REIA group or member of the public;
5. Engaging in any type of illegal or unethical real estate investing activities that deceive any members or the general public; or
6. Whose purpose or mission is not compatible with the mission of SJREIA;
or
C. Engages in activities contrary to SJREIA's mission; or
D. Engages in any activities or actions that are not in the best interest of SJREIA.
- Any complaint about a member or subgroup or prospective member shall be submitted in writing to the SJREIA Board of Directors. No oral complaint shall be accepted. When a written complaint has been filed, the subject individual member shall have the opportunity to make a written response. The Board of Directors or its assigns (ie. arbitration committee or mediation third party) shall make as much investigation as it deems necessary to make a decision on the ethics complaint. The Board of Directors may conduct any proceeding that will resolve the complaint between the complainant and the responding party, but said proceeding shall be with both parties and the Board of Directors in private.
